What is Sonic Barbeque?

Sonic Barbeque comes from a phrase used by bluesman Glenn Kaiser in the liner notes of his album Slow Burn, performed with Darrell Mansfield.

Glenn commented on the studio's location, and local noise in the recording, and compares the quality (excellent -imho) of the production to food at a picnic; that is to say that food at a picnic tastes intrinsically better than the food in the kitchen. The food may be the same recipe, the same ingredients, but in the great outdoors, a little dirt adds something joyfully intangible to the experience.

In this blog, Sonic Barbeque is about music, it's about faith, it's about the wonders of the world that God has created! Enjoy, and who knows? It might turn out to be a great picnic!

At the onset, I wish to thank Glenn for his insight and instruction in the book 'The Responsibility of the Christian Musician' (Kaiser, Glenn (1994). The Responsibility of the Christian Musician.
(Chicago, Illinois: Cornerstone Press Chicago. ISBN 0-940895-22-6)

I heartily recommend his book to all aspiring or accomplished Christian musicians.
